Vaping vs Smoking: Vaping is 95% Safer

If the last year and half has taught us anything, it's to trust science. Whether we are talking about COVID, the environment, or about vaping - science has led the way in our understanding of what is safe.

Science has proven that vaping is far less harmful than smoking. Vaping does not produce smoke and thus is proven to be much safer. Burning tobacco cigarettes releases 7000+ harmful chemicals which are proven to cause many diseases and cancers especially in the lung tissue.

As mentioned above, burning tobacco cigarettes releases over 7,000 harmful chemicals which cause diseases and cancers especially in the lung tissue.

E-cigarettes, on the other hand, heat an e-liquid into an aerosol without combustion or smoke. This process and the resulting aerosol is estimated to be 95% less harmful than tobacco cigarette smoke. The following expert conclusions will surprise you. 

According to the UK Royal College of Physicians¹:

“Although it is not possible to precisely quantify the long-term health risks associated with e-cigarettes, the available data suggest that they are unlikely to exceed 5% of those associated with smoked tobacco products, and may well be substantially lower than this figure.”

Public Health England² concludes:

“While vaping may not be 100% safe, most of the chemicals causing smoking-related disease are absent and the chemicals which are present pose limited danger.”

The US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine³ also concludes:

“There is substantial evidence that completely switching from regular use of combustible tobacco cigarettes to e-cigarettes results in reduced short-term adverse health outcomes in several organ systems.”

Many other independent studies have shown significant toxin reductions in blood, urine, and saliva -  from tobacco smokers who have switched to vaping.

The studies by both Public Health England and the UK Royal College of Physicians, along with the independent research, all prove the massive reduction in risk from vaping compared to smoking.  

The Royal College of Physicians concludes:

“Although it is not possible to precisely quantify the long-term health risks associated with e-cigarettes, the available data suggest that they are unlikely to exceed 5% of those associated with smoked tobacco products, and may well be substantially lower than this figure”

The numbers, though just a rough figure, do provide a positive benchmark to gauge just how effective vaping can be for harm reduction. We have all heard that “vaping is less harmful than smoking”. We can now say “Vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking.”

 


Vaping is 95% Safer

Vapour doesn’t contain most of the deadly toxins found in smoke. Those that can be found are only found at levels less than 1%⁵ of what they are in smoke.  Logic dictates that the lower the toxins -  the lower the health risks.

Switching from smoking to vaping causes massive drops in toxin levels found in our biomarkers⁶. Toxins and carcinogens found in our blood, urine, and saliva measure much lower in vapers - and have been found to be at levels that are the same for non-smokers.

Significant health improvements are also found in smokers who switch to vaping.  Reduction in risks to heart attacks⁷, improvement in asthma⁸ and emphysema⁹, the fall of blood pressure levels - along with participants testifying that they overall feel better after switching to vaping all verify the studies’ findings.

The risk of cancer¹ from vaping is estimated to be <0.5% of the risk from smoking. Numerous studies, conducted over 15 years and in dozens of countries, show without doubt that serious health effects from vaping are almost non-existent. Reputable e-cigarettes and vaping quality e-liquids can be said to be 95% less harmful than smoking tobacco.
